Every year Susanna has a wonderful contest for children's writers, and every year I try to participate. Sometimes life gets in the way, and sometimes, I can be found typing away. This year I jumped on board. I love conjuring up stories of flash fiction from fun pictures or strict guidelines. This year I had to use a few key words I needed to weave into the story. Even at 100 word limit the story HAS to have an arc. Not an easy feat! I think I nailed it though. Let me know what you think?
Brave Little Witch
I slowly tiptoe out my door
Scary monsters pass, looking for more.
The chill outside makes me freeze.
The monsters want candy, just like me.
I won’t go outside this Halloween Night,
But I want to join the witches in flight.
A little witch, I might be,
But strong and fierce, they will see.
A deep breath before I go outside.
To find a friend, I will not hide!
Glinda the Witch grabs my hand.
And I sigh with relief at where I stand.
As we run and jump, what fun we’ll have,
and bring home candy just as we planned.
I want to thank Susanna Leonard Hill for always having a great contest, a such a wonderful supporter of children's writers and authors!
I can't wait to until I publish my own Nicky Halloween Story, Nicky's Halloween Night, on submission to agents now!
Remember this Halloween. Enjoy the Moments and Cherish the Memories!
